Titled Land vs Concession Land
Titled Land
Full ownership rights similar to property ownership in the U.S. or Europe.
Concession Land
Located within the Maritime Zone. A renewable 99-year concession granted by the municipality. Foreign buyers may hold concession rights through a Costa Rican corporation.
Foreign Ownership
Foreigners can own titled land directly and concession land through a Costa Rican corporation. Residency is not required.
The Maritime Zone
The first 200 meters from the high-tide line is known as the Maritime Zone.
